A Boost For Your Scripture Reading

March 7, 2007 ·

I try to keep an eye on the speeches that BYU makes available. Any time that there is a speech posted by a General Authority, I like to put it on a cd and listen to it in the car. They offer the MP3 files free for this purpose.

Just a bit ago they posted a talk from David A. Bednar, one of newest members of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles. It is called “A Reservoir of Living Water and it is fantastic. If you’re trying to improve your ability of reading and searching the scriptures, this will help. It’s fantastic.

Every morning in the gym I run and listen to a General Conference speaker. (Love KBYU at Gold’s Gym!) Yesterday there was a talk by Dallin Oaks and I remember he said that girls should dress modestly or else they can be a form of pornography. Eeeeeeeee that’s blunt.

I think this was the CES fireside he gave in January right? It was very powerful when he delivered it and really made you evaluate how much effort you put into scripture reading.

Jamie, that’s right. It was from the CES fireside.

I know my comment didn’t apply really to your post. Modesty is such a huge topic in my house since Hailey is contemplating the whole principle while being surrounded by bikini’s at EVERY STORE and all of her friends in tank tops and whatever. And Tyler is disgusted by “showing shoulders”. I have to explain that girls aren’t bad people when they show shoulders, just that the decidon isn’t that best. Any advice?
