Living A Story To Tell

My Three Channel Lineup

Posted by Brian on April 17, 2008

I’ve always wished that the cable companies would allow you to pick and choose which channels you wanted to have on your account. Not only would this allow for a much lower bill, but it’d also allow for much more digital bandwidth to be available so all of our internet connections could be much, much faster.

But if they did allow this…I’d really only want three channels.

ESPN consistently does a good job at producing sports and sport related programs. Any guy I know can turn on ESPN at any time of day and enjoy what they are seeing. (Plus, they show a lot of Red Sox games so I’ll need those of course.)

The History channel does inspiring work. I love to watch shows about wars and findings on the Ancient Americans. They also produce incredible series like The States, which I enjoyed immensely. They went thru all 50 states and gave a short history on each one. I watched with a pen and paper in hand so I could mark down all the places to visit when I travel.

They also do shows on different religions. It’s always interesting to see what truth is in each religion…as well as the things that are a little off.

Easily my favorite channel, Discovery just makes you happy to be alive. It reminds you of how great and how big the world is that we live in. I’ve watched the Planet Earth series too many times to count. Plus the channel brings classics like American Chopper and Dirty Jobs.

A friend of mine recently found this commercial on Youtube. If it doesn’t make you want to go and see the world then I don’t know what will.

The world is awesome indeed.

Thanks for stopping by. To keep up with the Stucki family, feel free to subscribe to my RSS feed or signup for updates by email.

I have to say I now love these channels also. Before we were married I never watched them. I was too into sitcoms. My favorites are ESPN and Discovery Channels. I am still learning to like the History Channel.

1. You got me hooked on PTI when we lived in the same house, and I don’t even know much about sports.

2. You sat with a piece of paper and a pen? I didn’t know you still even used those! :)

3. I should have sang that part “I love tornadoes”. I liked that commercial.

4. When I was pregnant I really liked HGTV. Now I have a baby and rarely watch TV unless it’s our favorite shows in the evening.

Jamie- It’s funny you mention that. I had sold my macbook a couple days earlier and was waiting for my Macbook Air to get here on Monday so I was without a laptop.

It was utter torture writing with a pen.

Great selection, but just one channel of ESPN. I think it should count as the entire suite of ESPN channels. That being said, the only channel we have right now is High Def PBS. Nova is probably one of the best shows out there. There is actually a lot of great programming on PBS. Check it out.

Bruce? As in Uncle?
A bit of advice Brian:pens are out. It’s all about the mechanical pencil. Trust me.

What a great commercial. Just got home form Israel and Egypt and yes, it is great to see more of what God has created here.
Are you related to Bruce by any chance?
Cheers,
Jarem

Hey,
Sorry for getting on your personal blog and making a bunch of posts when you don’t even know me. I just noticed that you had a post from a Bruce and I wanted to clarify that the Bruce I was wondering if you had a relation to is H. Bruce Stucki, my mission president from the EMM. I came across your site as I was looking through some More Good Foundation info my friend Jon Johnson gave me to look over. Hope I haven’t been a pest.
You have a great site and beautiful photography.
Cheers,
Jarem

Me too! I’ve dream of having cable like this. I’ll even pay extra to only have a couple favorite channels.
